Leopold van Velden is an experienced teacher and education innovator with over ten years of classroom experience and six years in EdTech. Having taught in both under-resourced and high-performing schools, he brings a deep understanding of South Africa’s diverse education landscape.

Leopold holds a Bachelor of Education and an Honours degree in Education Management. His passion for creating equitable, high-quality education led him to co-found Thuma Mina Teaching, where he serves as CEO.

As a visionary leader, Leopold drives TMT’s mission to make learning accessible and effective for all learners, particularly those in under-served communities. He is committed to raising the standard of teaching in South Africa and believes that through innovation, collaboration, and high expectations, every learner can access their potential.
